          Main Definitions

  1. city 1 |n| a large area with houses, shops, offices, etc, that is often the centre of government for an area.
  2. city 2 |n| a large and densely populated urban area, may include several independent administrative districts.
  3. town |n| a large area with houses, shops,  offices etc. A town is smaller than a city.
  4. "La Coruña is a pretty seaside town."
  5. capital / capital city |n| the city where the government of a country or state is.

  7. municipality 1 |n| is usually an urban administrative division having corporate status and usually powers of self-government.

          Outside Parts of the City

  1. the outskirts |n| the area around the edge of a city or just outside it.

          Big Cities

  1. metropolis 1 |n| a big busy city that is full of people and activity.
  2. metropolis 2 |n| a very large city or urban area wich is a significant economic, political and cultural center for a country or region, and an important hub for regional or international connections and communications.
  3. "After 1850 París grew quickly into a busy metrópolis."
